Large or small, fluffy or tidy one of the things that all dogs have in common is their love to be taken out on a walk. Not only does it allow them to explore and exercise but it also provides essential bonding time between you and them. To aid this a comfy and safe dog collar is vital. With this collar you will be able to enjoy hours of walks with your doggy pal.

The HALTI Optifit head collar has been designed by Dr Robert Mugford to aid walk training and allow better control of your pet. The HALTI allows you to stop pulling and correct misbehaviour. It does this by stopping dogs from pulling by steering the head so the body has to follow. Its unique design works by gently directing the dog’s head, in much the same way as a headcollar works on a horse. The adjustable chin strap maintains an optimum comfort fit to the contours of a dogs face, so whatever breed of dog wearing the HALTI Optifit, it will not rise up into the dogs eyes or touch the dogs flews (lips).

The head collar is essential for strong dogs who are prone to pull on their lead. The HALTI avoids putting dangerous pressure on the neck while allowing for full motion and control. The HALTI optifit has a padded noseband for both your dog’s comfort and keeping the headcollar in place while it is being used. The cushioned noseband is also positioned clear of the eyes so that vision is not impaired. There are also reflective stripes for increased visibility in low light and dark conditions.

For safety the HALTI has a strong metal trigger clip that attaches to your dog’s existing collar. This ensures that your dog is always under control and cannot simply slip out of their head collar. The optifit has been designed to allow the noseband and cheek straps to be adjusted so that different breeds of dogs (and their noses) can be fitted safely and securely.

For safety there is a quick release buckle and the head collar comes complete with a lead ring.

To select the correct size after measuring snug around the top of your dogs neck, the manufacturer has provided the following sizing guide. Please remember to measure as all dogs are slightly different shapes and sizes:

Small: 24cm – 40cm (9.5″ – 15.5″) neck width

Medium: 42cm – 54cm (16.5″ – 21″) neck width

Large: 48cm – 64cm (19″ – 25″) neck width

Time should be taken when accustoming a dog to the HALTI OptiFit, so that he has a positive association with it. Initially place the noseband flat in your hand and feed the dog treats, so that he is happily putting his nose through it. When he becomes used to it you can secure the neck section.

To ensure that he cannot pull the nose band back over his nose, slide the camlock towards his chin and lock. However, it is important that the camlock is not so high that it restricts his ability to pant, eat or to open his mouth.

When first using the HALTI OptiFit, ensure you continually praise and reward your dog, and feed treats to help distract him and to ensure it is a rewarding experience. Never leave the HALTI OptiFit on an unsupervised dog or he may chew it.
