Nylon Dog Muzzle
Sometimes even the best behaved dog is required to wear a muzzle (for example to the vets) while some breeds must wear one due to legislation (Dangerous Dogs Act 1991). This muzzle has been designed with the dog in mind and the range of sizes allows you to select the one which will be most comfortable and unintrusive to your pet. With this muzzle you can enjoy piece of mind while your dog is enjoying their walks
The Mikki dog muzzle is a comfortable and lightweight alternative to traditional basket muzzles. The muzzle comes in various sizes which are approximately intended for the following breeds. However, please be aware that all dogs are different sizes and shapes and bitches and young dogs may require a smaller size. Please measure your dog before purchasing. The muzzle’s design allows your dog to drink and pant as they normally would and the open end of the muzzle allows you to feed them treats – perfect for training. Using a dog muzzle temporarily restrains a dog to prevent biting, chewing and barking. The muzzle also has a collar attachment to prevent removal by the dog (if the muzzle is fitted correctly).
Mikki, the manufacturer provide the following fitting instructions:
Allow enough space for you to slide one finger inside the muzzle, around the side of your dog’s nose (fig. 1). This will enable them to pant, drink and for you to give titbits during training sessions. Practise putting the dog muzzle on, then reward and praise your dog to encourage him to relax (fig. 2). Attach the Velcro loop to your dog’s collar for extra security.
When first introducing the muzzle to your dog, only put it on for short periods of time, building up until he is used to it and comfortable with how he feels.
Make sure:
- You have the right size muzzle for your dog
- The muzzle is only used for safety and restraint – not punishment
- You do not use for prolonged periods or during strenuous exercise
- You do not leave your muzzled dog unattended
MUZZLES SHOULD NOT BE WORN DURING STRENUOUS EXERCISE.
