A dog lead is vital to take your pet for one of their favourite activities – “WALKIES!”. By using a lead you are protecting your dog from the risks of the environment such as busy roads, it also allows you to effectively control their behaviour. 

Ancol’s viva retractable dog leads are a joy to use and are both stylish and comfortable. The extendable lead has a super soft grip which feels great in the hand and an easy to use one button brake mechanism. The tape lead measures 5 metres (16 foot) and is lightweight but strong; it has been tested to perform at much higher loads than recommended.

The retractable dog lead’s outer casing is manufactured using tough nylon which outperforms cheaper polypropylene cases. By only having one button, the extendable lead is both easier to use and reduces the amount of components that could fail.

To use the one button brake all you have to do is simply push down and forward to apply the brake and push down and back to release it. A good quality tape lead is stronger than the standard cord lead and allows you to give your dog the freedom to wander, run, and swim whilst on-lead.

According to the manufacturer’s specifications the leads are designed to be used for dog’s weighing up to:

Small: 20KG (44Ibs) Max

Medium: 30KG (66Ibs) Max

Large: 50KG (110Ibs) Max

For your pets safety it is strongly recommended not to attach a retractable/extendable dog lead to your dog’s collar around their neck. This is because serious injury can occur if for example your dog is running and is suddenly stopped by the lead’s brake, which can whiplash their neck in the opposite direction. It is advised to use a harness when using a retractable/extendable lead.
